Brown County OH - Brown Covered Bridge
12817 Beckelheimer Rd
Sardinia, OH 45171

Our only chance to ride around the Christmas holiday had us checking out four bridges in Brown County.  The temperature was around 55º and offered us some good riding.  The sun was out occasionally and it was all in all a good day.  We had been to at least a few of these bridges in the past but we hadn't taken pictures for some reason.  I guess it was before we had the bright idea to put them on our web site.  We headed across the top portion of I-275 and exited on U.S. 50 to avoid the mall traffic at Eastgate.  US50 is always a good road but we got stuck behind some slow drivers and didn't have the opportunity to pass.  We came into Mt. Orab on US68 and turned left on CR108 where St Rt 774 dead ends into US68.  A few short miles and we turned right CR5b and there it was.  Brown Covered Bridge spans 129' over White Oak Creek and was built sometime between 1878 and 1881 depending on who stating the history.  It is a Smith Truss and is no longer operational.  It still is in decent shape.  The bridge was built be Smith Bridge Company of Toledo OH.
