Day One – Home to Geneva NY
Miles: 601

We got underway early with a 600 mile day planned and since we were riding east this was necessary. All indications were the day would be rain free and very nice weather, and that is exactly how it turned out. We rode on the interstate until we got around Columbus and headed towards Newark staying on 4-lane road until we bid OH16 goodbye and headed north on OH60 towards Coshocton. We rode through Roscoe Village for our second time and stopped at the Monticello Canal Boat moored in an algae filled waterway. Not a very nice picture but we needed to stretch our legs and walk around some. We had planned to stop at Cr Brewing for lunch but when we got there the place was closed and didn't look like it was going to open any time soon. We continued on to Mack's Midway where we had lunch. It was well after noon but we were served lunch with no issue. The wings with the local Woodsman dry rub were very good. The Woodsman spice is a local delicacy that is quite popular in this area. The people were very friendly and we enjoyed our lunch. Leaving Mack's we rode due East following many PA State highways and wound our way 80 miles to the Allegheny River above the Kinzua Dam. The spot we stopped at is known as Kinzua Point. It wasn't much more than a pull-off but it was a nice look at the water. We had planned to ride up to nearby Rimrock Overlook but it was almost 4:00 and we still had 150+ miles to ride and we wanted some time in Geneva so we passed on the overlook and continued on. Two hours and 90 miles later we stopped at the Almond Dam in Kanakadea State Park overlooking Almond Lake. We rode the last 70 miles in the heart of the finger Lakes region and the roads and scenery were top notch. We arrived in Geneva with time to wash the bikes off and walk to Lake Drum Brewing and Climbing Bines Craft Ale Co.
