Day Seven – Moab UT. to Silverton CO. - Miles: 343
We got an early start and travelled south on US191 to UT46 which turns into CO90 as we enter the Paradox Valley. This road along with CO141 along the Dolores River is another favorite of ours that I could ride every year and never tire of it. We stopped on CO90 as we entered the Paradox Valley and soaked in one of my favorite stops that we have visited before. The view is just simply fantastic. Once we hit CO141 also known as Unaweep Tubeguache Scenic Byway the road was not in the best condition. The last time we rode this was 2015, so it had some time. Maybe it is due for a re-pave. Anyway it was still good. We rode past Gateway CO and its Automobile Museum which we have never stopped at and continued up to Divide Road where we were off on gravel climbing up to overlook CO141 far below. Next up was the Colorado National Monument which we also rode through in 2015 and we made several stops along the park road. This scenery never old either. It was a Tuesday afternoon so there were not many in the park which made riding in the park that much more enjoyable. Upon exiting we rode back down US50 to Montrose and picked up US550 again and rode south towards Ouray. Since we were hitting many old spots we had previously visited we thought maybe.we should stay in Ouray but for all the times we have been in the area we thought let's stay in Silverton since we have visited it many times but never spent the night. We found in AirBNB one block off the main drag and it was very nice. In our restaurant search we found a Triple D restaurant and decided we needed to try that. It was called Thee Pits Again and it was very good. We watched the episode and saw two featured dishes from the show so we each had one of them. I got the Pork Sundae and Steve had the Hot Turkey Special. After dinner we walked around town a little and sat on our balcony and enjoyed downtown Silverton.
