Day Day Ten – Canon City CO. to Wichita KS. - Miles: 474
We were riding by 6:30 and it was already getting hot. We rode on US50 for the most part and stopped after 100 miles at Bent's Old Fort. This was the location of an Adobe Fort on the Santa Fe Trail in a territory claimed by both the US and Mexico. It was a 400 yard walk from the welcome center to the fort and we knew we wouldn't have much time so we by-passed the fort and looked around the welcome center, drank a bunch of water and jumped back and rode to Garden City where after 300 miles we were ready for some lunch. We stopped at Flat Mountain Brewhouse which was decent but nothing special. We stayed on US50 to Dodge City were bid farewell and rode the rest of the way on US400. We stayed in downtown Wichita and walked to River City Brewing for dinner and Tor Brewing for a last one.
