Day Ten – Halifax to Bangor
Miles: 475

Another start to a day in the rain. We ate at the hotel so we didn't have to make an extra stop in the rain. We only made one stop which was for gas between Halifax and St. John where we stopped for lunch and a brew at Big Tide Brewing. The chicken wings were average and the only low alcohol beer they had was an amber, which wasn't bad for a red, but not really our taste. We rode around downtown St. John a little bit which we had never done before always having chosen to simply ride through on our way to other destinations. It was a nice looking town and maybe worth an overnight sometime in the future. We were rushing through knowing we wanted to catch two ferries that we missed on the way up around Deer Island and Campobello. We exited Canada 1 and headed toward L'Etete and the first ferry. As we turn into the ferry lane we see the big sign stating the ferry is closed. On one hand that really stunk, but if we had gone this route on the way up we would have never made Moncton on Day 3. So, I guess it was a mixed blessing but we certainly felt cheated as we backtracked out to Canada 1 to continue toward the border. It was back to rain as we crossed the border but a slight reprieve allowed us to take a stop just short of Wesley on ME9. We didn't stop until reached Bangor and the Hampton Inn there parking under the shelter to get out of the rain. We Ubered to Orono Brewing Company's now old location where they didn't serve any food, but we enjoyed a couple of Point Break IPAs before walking over to Thai Orchid for dinner. Afterwards we walked over to Marsh Island Brewing for a couple of Pale Ales, and then Ubered back to the hotel. Not really a great ride. Fortunately it wasn't raining when we were in St. John, and it never really came down hard but the whole day was essentially without sunshine. In fact you'll notice no video for this day.
