We found ourselves in late October again and thinking where should we go. We had a spring trip to Cleveland a one week dirt trip to Ouray and a ten day street trip out west so we weren't sure we were going to be able to pull it off. We complicated matters by picking Friday the 30th to depart. This meant we needed to return home at a decent hour in order to be home for Halloween and any of the festivities around that. Getting there was good, but getting back home wasn't all that great.

Day One
We rode I-74 to Greensburg and exited to run IN46 down to Columbus. Unfortunately there was some construction and we had to take a pretty big by pass to get back on route. Just east of Bloomington we took IN446 south and stopped at Lake Monroe. Not much to this stop, but we needed a short little stop and this was in the right time frame. We continued on down to Williams Covered Bridge. Our second visit in two years. We had stopped here for the first time on our trip to Owensboro in 2013. It is a nice bridge and worth a picture. It still wasn't all that warm and we had our full gear on as we stopped to look around. We rode down US150 and through West Baden and French Lick before stopping at the Old Mill in Jasper which dates back to 1811. We had planned to grab a bite to eat in Jasper but nothing looked that great and it was already 3:00 so we just continued on. We stopped at the Wheeling Covered Bridge. This is a 150' bridge built in 1877 spanning the Patoka River. It was still in decent shape but was showing some signs of wear. It was bypassed in 1976. Next up, and just down river from Wheeling was Severn's Bridge near the town of Princeton on Old IN65. It is just under 100' and was built in 1908. It is a riveted 6-panel Warren through truss. The bridge was named after John Severns who fought in the Revolutionary War but was later captured by Indians but escaped and ultimately settled on the South bank of the Patoka River where he operated a ferry for many years at this location. We passed by the Gibson County Courthouse and stopped for a picture of that as we passed by. The 1884 is a great example of Romanesque Revival architecture. We continued on and soon we were in Evansville at the Hampton on the North side of town. We ubered a short distance down top Carson's Brewery for the night. They just put in a gas fireplace table outside and it was warm enough for us to sit around that.

Day Two
Not much to share here. I-64 and I-71 all the way home.
