Day Eight – Sandpoint ID to Great Falls MT
Miles: 443
Elapsed Time: 10:38

We stopped at Connie’s Cafe for breakfast. There wasn’t much to choose from in Sandpoint but this looked like a local spot. Nothing special at all here but is was ok. We rode to Clark Fork and made a quick stop on the old railroad bridge that has been converted to a pedestrian bridge. We rode down Montana 200 which we had done the year before but it is a nice ride along the Clark Fork River and down through the valley. We rode past the Bison Range again and again decided not to stop. We jogged our way north on MT 212 toward Poison Bay on Flathead Lake to take a look at Kerr Dam. We had a pretty good hike down many steps to get a closer look. After stretching our legs we were ready to get riding again and backtracked through the town of Poison before running up the east side of the lake.

We were getting a little hungry so when we came upon Flathead Brewing Company with an outdoor patio we knew we would stop for lunch. The Centennial IPA hit the spot, but I cant remember what we did for food. Once we got to Big Fork we headed due south on MT 83 and ran hard for about 60 miles before we stopped along Lake Alva. I was trying to pick the same spot where we stopped in 1998 and I think it was the same but we weren’t really certain. Anyway we looked at the lake for a little bit and moved on. We stopped again on the other side of Rogers Pass in Lewis and Clark County. It was getting a little late in the day and we wanted to visit the Bowser Brewing Co that evening so we busted tail into Great Falls and arrived in time to have the hotel shuttle take us to the Brewery.
