Jackson County IN - Bell’s Ford Covered Bridge
5404-5748 Indiana 258
Seymour, IN 47274

The warm weather stayed with us deep into December.  With all of our Christmas shopping completed we needed to get some riding in.  The two or three bridges we had on our radar were on the other side of Seymour IN in Jackson County.  It's basically straight out U.S. 50 and they can be found along the East Fork of the White River.  We picked up IN350 in Aurora and rode north and west towards Milan.  Nothing new here but a nice ride.  We turned left on IN129 to connect with US 50 on the east side of Versailles State Park, which we like riding through.  Not much scenery down to Seymour but you do pass through the Muscatatuck Natural Wildlife Preserve on the south side of U.S. 50.  Once through Seymour IN258 is an easy find on the northwest side of the city.  Just on the outskirts of town IN258 crosses the East Fork of the White River.  Just east of the bridge we came upon signage about the old covered bridge and we pulled over.  We saw the old trestles in the water and wondered maybe we missed something.  We went to the west side of the bridge and down the road a little ways and there was another access road on the west side of the bridge so we went down there.  We took a few pictures of the trestles and decided to move one to the next bridge.  Upon our return we found out the bridge was there as recent as this past September.
